How to do the Barbell Behind Neck Military Press

  1. Sit on a bench without back support, holding a barbell with both hands. Your hands should be slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, and the barbell should rest on your upper back and shoulders.
  2. Sit up straight. Start with your elbows bent and the barbell behind your neck.
  3. Press the barbell overhead until your arms are fully extended, keeping the bar slightly behind your head.
  4. Slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position behind your neck with control. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Form tips

  • Maintain an upright posture without leaning back.
  • Breathe steadily, exhaling as you press the barbell up and inhaling as you lower it back down.
  • Ensure your movements are symmetrical to avoid muscle imbalances.
